AWANA at Crossroads Bible Church!

It is our great pleasure to invite you to join our Awana program at Crossroads Bible Church!

Awana stands for "Approved Workmen are Not Ashamed" (2 Tim. 2:15). The goal of this fun and meaningful program is to reach children with the Gospel of Christ, train them to serve Him, and ultimately equip them with the resources they need to lead a godly life. Training involves scripture memorization and testing on that memorization. It also involves using weekly and special additional activities to increase and evaluate the children's spiritual maturity. But it's not just about training. It's about people and fun, fun, fun ...

Fun fun Games!
Every club night, the children play games on the special Awana Games Circle. Everyone gets to participate and fun is a main goal. But, the children are closely supervised by spiritually mature adults who are trained to guide the children in the right way to compete, win, and lose.

Personalized Attention!
Every week, each child will receive individual attention from a trained leader who will help them through their special Awana educational materials.

Positive Peers!
Our Awana program will challenge each child to stretch, and reach for big goals intellectually and spiritually. Peer relationships will blossom as the children achieve together on teams.

Our Philosophy

The purpose of CBC undertaking an Awana program is to fulfill six Biblical directives for the church, which are:

  1. Instilling in our children a love for the Bible through scripture memorization.
  2. Instilling in our children a lasting appreciation for correct doctrine.
  3. Training our children to live in the world, but not to have the world’s attitude in fulfilling the constraints and requirements of everyday life.
  4. Testing our children in Items 1-3.
  5. Instilling in adults a knowledge of the blessings of Christian service and the necessity of each believer to be a vessel for fulfilling the church’s calling.
  6. Being a beacon of excellence in content and style that attracts those who would seek the Lord.

These Biblical directives are the calling of every church. The leadership at our church has approved Awana as a method to help us fulfill them. The value of the Awana program at CBC will lie in its ability to enable the pursuit of these goals. Though we have no direct measure of success, there will be some things we can look for, such as:

  • Do our children have a growing appreciation for scripture and doctrine?
  • Are the adults who serve in the program reaping the spiritual rewards and do they desire to expand their service further?
  • Is our program attracting the unsaved by conducting an excellent program in a Christ-like way?
